OUR IMPRESSIONS OF THE KERSHAW BLUR

The Kershaw Blur knife is a great choice for and every day carry (EDC) knife. It’s tough and rugged and holds an edge extremely well. With the abundant choices Kershaw offers on color and blade styles, the user has options to customize the Blur to their own preferences, which I think is great.

LETS GET TO THE MEAT!

The balde on the 1670S30V Blur is made from S30V steel, which is a premium steel. It’s powdered stainless steel which makes the blade more dense and fine grained. It will hold and extremely fine edge for a long time. The S30V steel was originally designed by Crucible to be a tough, wear resistant blade steel. The hardness of the blade is a catch 22, the blade is very hard, which makes sharpening a long task. However, once the blade is sharpened to your liking, it will hold its edge for an incredibly long time.

The recurved blade makes the Blur ideal for multitasking, it’s piercing capabilities are enhanced by the drop point, and the recurved belly make slicing easy. The stonewashed finish makes the blade looked roughed up, that will help to conceal scratches and scuffs on the blade and also provides a non-reflective look to the blade. The thumbstud is ergonomically friendly, allowing the thumb to lay comfortably and flick the blade open with the SpeedSafe assist.

The handle is manufactured from the T6 aluminum, also referred to as aircraft aluminum. Machined to accept the trac-tec grip inserts, think grip-take on a skateboard. This grip-tape provides a solid grip in any condition. The handle is anodized, which allow Kershaw to produce a number of different color options for the Blur. Not to mention in the anodizing process, this make the handle harder, making it more durable.

The Kershaw Blur also boasts the patented SpeedSafe assisted opening mechanism for fast and easy one-handed opening. Once deployed the Liner Lock locks the blade into place during use. The steel plate that scales are attached to moves into place behind the blade to securely lock it into place. Pre-drilled holes in the handle allow for the pocket clip to be reversed, allowing you to carry the pocket knife either tip-up or tip-down, depending on your preference. Also added were pre-drilled holes to allow for a lanyard to be attached, for added convenience.

OTHER OPTIONS

The Kershaw Blur comes in many color options, due to the anodizing of the aluminum handle it can be dyed pretty much any color. Also available for the Blur is other blade steel options. The premium Blur boasts the S30V steel blade, while also available is the Sandvik steel and the 440A stainless steel options.

FEATURES OF THE KERSHAW BLUR:

  • Made in USA
  • Speed Sage Assisted Opening
  • Strong Liner Lock
  • Thumbstud
  • Reversible Tip Up/Tip Down Pocket Clip

Conclusion

With the many color and blade steel options available from Kershaw, and the great added features of the Kershaw Blur, it makes it hard to not say this is one of the best pocket knives on the market today. I’d suggest for the price of the Blur, it’s worth trying one out.
